Schlage Recognition Systems Partners with Sonitrol

CAMPBELL, CALIF. – December 17, 2002 – Schlage Recognition Systems, the biometric component of Ingersoll Rand’s Security Technologies Group’s Electronic Control Systems and the world’s largest supplier of biometric readers for access control and time and attendance applications, announced that it is partnering with Sonitrol, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security. The Schlage Recognition Systems biometric hand geometry HandReaders, which positively identify users by the shape and size of their hands instead of their cards or keys, can be used with Sonitrol access control panels.

Frost & Sullivan’s World Biometric Report 2002 recently reported that, in 2001, Schlage Recognition Systems HandReaders continued to be the dominant biometric technology for access control and time and attendance applications. More HandReaders were used for these applications than all fingerprint and face systems combined.

“We have established a full-fledged partnership with the manufacturer of the most widely used biometric reader in access control and time and attendance applications,” emphasizes Todd Leggett, Sonitrol’s vice president of business development and distribution. “With more and more end users requesting biometrics, HandReaders give our franchisees an easy to install access control solution that furnishes increased convenience, reliability, accuracy and security. Health clubs, daycare centers, nursing homes, hotels and motels, restaurants and scores of other businesses can count on Sonitrol franchisees to provide a biometric solution that’s field proven.”

“We look forward to working with Sonitrol franchisees and their commercial customers, to bring increased security and convenience to their access control solutions,” adds Bill Spence, Schlage Recognition Systems’ director of marketing.
